Rutges
The industrial complex Oudenrijn-West in Utrecht will be converted into a business park of high quality business units, with a strong emphasis on design.
Thanks to a growing trade, a new building will be made on a corner plot of land measuring 3900 square meters, in order to accommodate Rutges BV, a high-grade contruction and renovation firm.
The plan consists of a L-shaped office building of 1200 square meters, in 2 storeys, surronding a central working hall. The layout of the office building is organized around a corner void. Strong horizontal forms dominate the design, which has projecting steel canopies continuing the plane of the 1st storey flooring. Between the storeys is a lamella construction, in wood, hung on steel consoles. The facades will be executed out of structural glass panes with aluminium sheeting in dark anthracite, and the recessed ground floor has an ashlar plinth. The plan was designed in order to make it possible, sometime in the futur, to add a 3rd floor, identical to the second. In contrast with the office section of the building, the large hall ( 2200 square meters ) - also consisting of 2 floors - has a facade of vertical anthracite steel sandwich panels, on a plinth of prefabricated concrete.
