Huis aan de Werf
Huis aan de Werf is the beating heart of experimental theatre in the Netherlands. Their fame rests chiefly on the reputation of their annual performance festival. This building does indeed serve as a kind of house, since young theatre entusiasts can, for days or even weeks together, work together in the preparation of new productions. The former school building was renovated into the present theatre complex, and the interior layout of rooms and facilities was completely remodelled and upgraded. A new extension was constructed next to the original building, and at the same time, the entire complex was made accessible to the disabled.
In addition to the construction of a new bar, foyer, lift and restroom area, new galleries were inserted into the large hall, and a new workplace was built on the ground floor. On the first floor is a new restaurant/café with kitchen, as well as studio, work, and rehearsal rooms. The second floor houses the smaller performance hall.
