The narrow space of the location, hemmed in between two streets, meant that the units would need to have closed facades - however an ‘outer space' can be made by opening large double doors. The flats on the ground floor and souterrain have entrances on both the Nieuwe Jonkerstraat in the front and the Nieuwe Ridderstraat in the rear.
