huisartsenpraktijk / kunstgalerie

On the ground floor of a building in Amsterdam's Old South neighbourhood is the striking fusion of two concepts: an art gallery and the waiting room for a family practice. The receptionist's office and the examination rooms are like boxes placed in the art gallery/waiting room.

This is not a sombre and boring space, as most waiting rooms are - the patient feels encouraged to be an art lover, and is invited to wander about. The visitor to the gallery feels less alone than in most modern galleries, where only a visitor or two per week is to be expected.
